Otis

For some reason this week I have been hearing random songs and they have been inspiring and motivating me. It may not be the whole song but maybe a line or two. One of those songs was “ Otis ” by Jay Z and Kayne West featuring the late Otis Redding. Jay Z has a line in the song that says “ I guess I got my swagger back ” that one line had me me hyped because I feel that’s what’s going on with me. I’m getting back to the old me but an upgraded version. I’m able to see what I really want in life and go after it; no more stalling or shrinking back. I used to getting promoted and moving forward quickly; if you’ve read my previous post Do I Really Want It I speak about that. I have been wondering what was stopping me this time around. It was a number of things that happened that made feel like I lost myself or my “swagger” but the common denominator was simply not committing to the process. Once I figured that out everything became clearer. My life, my businesses, my relationships are al...

Peel That Shrimp

Early this morning I was peeling and deveining some shrimp; I have not done that in a while. I usually will buy shrimp that is already peeled and deveined. When you are  devein a shrimp just slightly slit the body of the shrimp with a knife and pull the vein out. Seems simple enough and the first couple of shrimp took a little extra time to get peeled and deveined correctly. But I eventually got back into the swing of things. As I was fiddling with the shrimp it may me think about the different things that people may want to do in life, but they think that they don’t have the skills to do it or that their skills are rusty. You may have to read more, watch some videos, listen to some podcasts, or get in person help in order to become proficient in your craft. All it takes is getting the technique down and once that happens then you are on your way!

Be Agressive, Be Be Agressive

I thought about that cheer earlier today while I was in the drive thru line at Chick Fil A. I stopped there earlier for a salad during my lunch break and got stuck but I also learned a lesson. In some aspects of my life I am a chill person and in others I can be very impatience. I get a lot of promptings from the Lord as well as dreams and visions. I’ll write about that another time. But anyway as I was waiting in the drive thru line I saw, heard, and felt that I should move to the outer lane so that I can get my food faster. I did not move because I thought “ It’s okay, I can wait, no big deal…let me be patience ” well I should have listened. Because I sat and watched three cars go to the outer lane, order their food, and get to the drive thru window before the car in front of me finished ordering and those cars took their time ordering their food. By now I’m agitated because that added more time onto my return trip. But then I thought why am I getting upset when I knew that I sho...

Your Reach

As I continue on with my writing and the other things that I am doing I am constantly hit with thoughts of doubt. But I continue forward because I know that what I am doing will reach someone. It will encourage them to keep going and in turn someone else will keep going. What’s interesting is that you don’t think that what you post, write, or say is getting to others but it does. The majority might not tell you that they are seeing what you are doing but just know that they are watching and it’ll reach someone...scratch that it’ll reach many. I know a lot of times when say “If I can just reach one person, that’s great” which it is great. But I desire to reach many. I don’t know how many people will see this post or any of my previous and future posts but I will continue to post them. The posts help me and I know that everything that I have gone through and am going through is not for naught. So as I encourage you I also encourage myself to keep pushing and keep moving. Every dream,...

Cut Hair…Life Change

The saying that I believe is by Coco Chanel “ A women who cuts her hair is a bout to change her life” is me right now. I do feel a change coming of what I don’t know but I do feel it. I have been without a relaxer on and off since 2004. But over the past six years or so I’ve been consistently without a relaxer. For the the past year I have been taking care of my hair and it has been growing. But not as much as it should have been because I was always manipulating it with various hairstyles. Tonight I was so ready to relax this hair!!! I currently have a sew-in which was really cute but I left most of the perimeter of my hair out. Now I’m tangling with that trying to blend it in and I just want to put my hair in a style and be done. I usually have braids but I  didn’t want to put any in because I have been rocking braids since I was little like I was Moesha or something 😂. Right now I’m waiting on a product called the Curl Smiler by LaToija Jones (see my Latoija Jones Podcast ...

Taking Time

I am currently sitting at the pool in my community  and I am writing. It’s so nice because my kids are occupied (I’m still watching them)but the great part is that I can be relaxed while I am writing. I have been trying to come up with ways to be able to fit my writing, being a wife and mother, my full-time job, and devote time to all of the other businesses that I have so that they can reach their full potential. It’s simple….just make the time. Case in point I wanted to write but my children wanted to come to the pool. Instead feeling like I had to completely commit to what they wanted to do. I just brought my iPad to write while they swim. I know that seems so simple but I had to actually get out of my feelings and my head in order to find that simple solution. I have also made a schedule for this week to write and put time into my other businesses. I am also going to get some exercise in as well. I have not been exercising consistently since the end of last month. I have on...

Let’s Makeout Podcast

One of my favorite families on YouTube would be Gabrielle and Chad from GabeBabeTv . I have been watching their vlogs for a while now. I love their family dynamic with their son and now daughter, Nana, their moms, siblings, and their friends. They make me laugh A LOT and its awesome to see the ways that they (and their brand) has grown since I’ve started watching. When  they said that they were starting a podcast I was excited to listen! I have always wondered how they were able to juggle managing a family, being Influencers, Brand Ambassadors, spending time with friends and family, being involved in church and I’m pretty sure there’s a whole lot of other things that they do. In the episode Getting Things Done they answered that question. Highlights: Non-negotiable’s Some of their non-negotiable’s include spending time with family and going to church. My non-negotiable’s are similar. But I had started to fall off.  At my job I have a staff to manage. So I would allow th...

The Casey Crew Podcast

I’m sure that most people have heard of DJ Envy either from his work as a DJ and/or being on The Breakfast Club morning show. I knew he was married with children but I did not who his wife was until I heard their podcast The Casey Crew . Gia seems like a really sweet person and is very funny especially when she and Raashaun (DJ Envy’s government name) as she refers to him go back and forth about the stuff he says. I have to admit I do agree with a few things he says on their show so I am always talking back when I listen to the podcast like “ Gia, yes, its sounds crazy but it makes sense ” J The comradery between them is something to hear and I crack up every single show. I am currently so behind so I was catching up on some episodes recently. The other day I listened to episode sixty-six “ The Wedding or the Marriage ” and it hit close to home for me. Highlights: The Rock This was one where I had to disagree with DJ Envy a little bit in the beginning and I agreed with...
