The Gravity of Parenting

I never knew the gravity of being responsible for another human being. When I had my children I thought “Okay babies are cute” and, “Let’s start a family.” Now nothing prepares you to be a parent but having a little foresight from other parents would be a great idea…Shoot doing a few practices runs by babysitting someone’s child or strapping a fake baby to your chest for 72 hours would help prepare you. I absolutely love my children but I do wish that I had taking my time to get to know a little bit more about the HUGE responsibility that I would take on by being someone’s mother. Not only do you have to give birth, fed the child, and clothe the child but you have to instill good morals and values into that child.

I didn’t realize the enormous responsibility I had until my children had gotten older and I had to instruct them on how to do things; i.e. how to properly bath and clothe themselves, how to brush their teeth, why they shouldn’t eat their boogers off the ground (or at all) etc. Those kinds of things that I have already learned I had to realize that it would not just come to my children; someone had to teach them just like I had to be taught. But the thing is I had to teach them those responsibilities and more EVERY SINGLE DAY… and I will have to continue to teach them as they grown into adulthood.
It was, and at times, can still be overwhelming but as my children get older I am able to see the light at the end of the tunnel so to speak.
